What is Live Testing?
What is Live Testing?
Live Testing is a browser-based capability within Testinium Suite that allows users to remotely access and interact with mobile devices in real time.
It is designed for manual and exploratory testing, enabling testers, developers, and product teams to validate mobile applications without requiring physical access to the device.
Users can select an available device, launch a session, install or open applications, and interact with the device directly through the browser.
What Can You Do with Live Testing?
Live Testing can be used for activities such as:
- Manually testing applications across different device models and OS versions
- Performing exploratory and usability testing
- Reproducing issues on specific devices
- Verifying UI behavior across different screen sizes and operating systems
- Validating application installations and builds
- Investigating issues identified during automated test executions
Device Access
Depending on the environment configuration, Live Testing can provide access to:
- Public Devices – Shared devices that can be used when available
- Private / Dedicated Devices – Devices assigned to a specific customer or environment
- Physical Devices – Real mobile devices connected to the Testinium infrastructure
- Emulators and Simulators – Virtual devices, when enabled for the environment (coming soon)
Available devices can be browsed and launched from the Device List.
Shared Device Infrastructure
Physical devices can be used by both Live Testing and Test Automation, allowing manual and automated testing to share the same device infrastructure.
For example, a device can be used for an automated test execution and later accessed through Live Testing to reproduce an issue or perform additional manual validation.
This allows teams to use a common device pool for different testing workflows without maintaining separate device infrastructures.
Live Testing Sessions
Once a session is launched, the selected device can be controlled remotely through the browser. Users can navigate applications, reproduce user flows, inspect application behavior, and perform manual validation in real time.
An Online device is ready to use and can be launched for a new session. While a device is being used, it becomes Busy and cannot be launched by another user or session. When the active session ends, the device becomes Online again.
Dedicated Device Farm Setup
Organizations that require their own device infrastructure can use a dedicated device farm with Testinium.
Dedicated devices can be configured for both Live Testing and Test Automation, allowing the same physical device pool to support manual and automated testing.
Dedicated setups can be tailored according to requirements such as device models, device count, deployment model, and testing needs.
Customers interested in setting up a dedicated device farm can contact the Testinium team to discuss their requirements and available deployment options.
