Quick Run
Overview
Quick Run enables users to re-execute scenarios from the most recent Plan run without modifying or saving any changes to the original Plan configuration. It is designed to provide a fast and flexible way to validate previous results or rerun specific scenarios without rebuilding a Plan.
This feature is especially useful for isolating and re-running scenarios based on their execution status such as Success, Failure, or Error, and for quickly verifying results in different environments.
Scope
Quick Run operates independently from the Plan definition. Any execution triggered through this screen does not affect the original Plan configuration.
The feature is based on the latest execution of a selected Plan and allows users to:
- Select scenarios from the last run
- Filter scenarios by execution status
- Assign environments dynamically
- Execute immediately without saving changes
Components and Actions
Select Scenarios
Users can select scenarios from the latest Plan execution.
Capabilities:
- View scenario list with the last execution details
- Select one or multiple scenarios
- Navigate through large lists with pagination
- Scenarios that have been deleted are not listed in the Quick Run screen, even if they existed in the previous Plan execution.
Status Filtering
Scenarios can be filtered based on their last execution result.
Supported statuses:
- Success
- Failure
- Error
- Stopped
- Unexecuted
This allows users to quickly focus on specific subsets such as failed or unstable scenarios.
Select Environments
Users can choose environments where the selected scenarios will be executed.
Capabilities:
- View all available environments
- Add one or multiple environments
- Dynamically assign environments during setup
Quick Run Execution
The Quick Run section provides a final overview before execution.
Displayed information:
- Scenario name
- Operating system
- Environment type
- Environment version
Users can:
- Remove scenarios or environments
- Review the execution setup
- Start execution instantly
Environment–Scenario Matching (Key Behavior)
Quick Run allows direct matching between scenarios and environments, unlike standard Plan execution where environments are defined at the Plan level and the system determines scenario distribution.
With Quick Run:
- Each scenario can be assigned to a specific environment
- One-to-one scenario–environment execution is supported
Why This Behavior Exists
This behavior is designed to enable fast and targeted validation without modifying the original Plan.
After a test run, issues are often environment-specific and need to be reproduced on a particular device, OS version, or browser. Updating the Plan for this purpose would require configuration changes and impact future executions.
Quick Run removes this overhead by allowing:
- Direct scenario–environment pairing
- Immediate execution without saving changes
This makes it ideal for debugging, issue reproduction, and quick verification workflows.
Inherited Plan Settings
Quick Run executions inherit the configuration of the original Plan.
This includes:
- Advanced Settings (e.g., parallel test limit, failed test retry count)
- Schedule & Notifications (e.g., send email behaviors, run schedule)
All relevant Plan-level settings are applied during Quick Run execution.
This ensures that reruns maintain consistency with the original execution behavior, while still allowing flexible scenario and environment selection without modifying the Plan.
Key Notes
- Does not update or overwrite the original Plan
- Uses only the latest execution data
- Scenario selection is independent from Plan grouping
- Environment assignment is fully flexible
- Supports direct scenario–environment matching
Use Cases
- Re-running only failed or errored scenarios
- Verifying successful scenarios in different environments
- Reproducing issues on a specific device or OS version
- Running targeted validations without modifying the Plan
- Quickly testing fixes without rebuilding execution setups
